About Me

Jonathan Kirk, MBA, MLS, MCouns(anticipated 2026)
A few years ago, my wife and I made the life-changing decision to move from Portland, Oregon to Auckland, New Zealand, drawn by a shared passion for mental health and a desire for greater balance and connection. She, a doctor of clinical psychology, and I, a long-time practitioner in the mental health space, have built our lives around the value of care — for others, for ourselves, and for our community.
Before becoming a counsellor, I wore many hats — personal trainer, bodybuilder, social worker, wildland firefighter, bartender, law clerk, and even COO of a financial company. These diverse experiences deeply inform the way I work with people, particularly those navigating identity, life transitions, stress, anxiety, and burnout. My two other postgraduate degrees (in law and business) allow me to understand high-pressure environments, while my background in health and fitness gives me a unique lens on the mind-body connection.
Above all, I see therapy as a space where people can feel heard, supported, and empowered to create meaningful change.
